Element NL is the association for organisations working on energy from Dutch soil. We connect our members, knowledge and advocacy with the public interest we serve: a reliable, robust and safe energy system.

Our mission and role

The members of Element NL are working towards a CO₂-neutral energy system. Element NL represents the interests of companies active in the Netherlands in upstream and midstream oil and gas, and companies developing CO₂ storage.

Exploration and production

These companies investigate potential gas reserves in our subsurface: on land and in the North Sea, and produce Dutch natural gas from these reserves. They stand for safe and responsible gas production, greater security of supply and at least 30% lower emissions compared with imported gas. The sector also contributes economic benefits: at least 70 cent of every euro earned flows back to the State.
Standards and safety

Through Element NL, our members also manage important environmental and safety standards, guidelines, training courses and inspections that are recognised worldwide.
Contribution to the Netherlands

Dutch natural gas provides security for households and feedstock for industry. CO₂ storage enables industry to become more sustainable in the Netherlands. And reusing our infrastructure contributes to an affordable energy transition.
